Evolution of Jeff – “Jeff Walking”

With the help of a device called the Lokomat, Jeff took his first fluid steps since his 1980 cerebral hemorrhage. These grainy videos were taken on a mobile phone at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in 2005. The Evolution of Jeff will look at how an American man, unable to easily walk in 25 years, could get the opportunity to walk normally again thanks to emerging technologies being developed in Israel, Japan, South Korea and the United States. Director Zachary M. Newmark joins his father, Jeff Newmark, as he leaves Chicago in a wheelchair, hoping to return wearing robotic legs.
