ive been off work for months cause of two hip surgeries?

Posted: December 7th, 2011 | Author: | Filed under: Common Questions | Tags: , , , , | 7 Comments »

im seeing my doctor beginning of oct, i live in a resort and hr has been really nice about letting me stay here without working and still get free meals and board, i dont get paid, i can get released to work any time im ready and i was thinking of asking my doctor to do it with restrictions, i dont want to take advantage since i’ll already be not working for 4 months by the time i see him, one of my hips is completely healed up while the other is still sore, its only been almost 8 wks since the last one, ive tried walking to the dining rm one day but i got so sore that i was getting shooting pains in my knee later on all that night, its not doing it now, before that the soreness was going away, i have a scooter but because of the wintertime i wont be able to use it, i walked cause it looked like rain and i thought it would be helpful. i thought of getting an adult bicycle since i can drive that in the snow and then donate my scooter, i dont want to charge anyone for it cause i got it for nothing thru a trust fund, how do i go back to work if i cant walk to work? i need more time to heal but i dont want to take advantage either, and i need to start making money again too, i dont get paid for sitting around, should i ask my doctor to put down i can only do sit down jobs for now and that i need rides to work, or should i ask him for temporary disability and then volunteer at the resort for the rm and board? i dont understand why my right hip is taking so long to heal up, it makes me wonder if it ever will, but then ive had other surgeries that took months to heal up, so im not sure if im taking too long to heal or what, my xrays looked fine and they said it was healing okay, i had them 6 wks apart, so what do you think i should do about work? i cant quit my job but im not sure i can do it either, im in food service so i would need to do something else and the hr person said i could let her know a wk ahead and she’ll find me something else to do, i also have gum problems and a possible gum infection i cant take care of cause doctors wont give me antibiotics, except for the premedll ones i took for almost a wk, it helped a lot but i still could have a sinus infection i cant get help for either, ive been taking garlic softgels and more vit c and plus i had a hole in my ceiling because of a leak i had in my bathrm and they had to seal the pipes, the resort was too busy to fix it so the other day i asked someone to cover it up so i wouldnt be exposed to the mold in there and i do feel better and im ordering a dehumidifier so hopefully that will help, i want to go back to work but not sure how to do it if im still recuperating, any suggestions?

You have an interesting question that only your dr. will be able to answer, but from what you said I think one might have a hard time giving you any type of disability when you seem to be healing just fine. They will have a hard time saying that without proof.
One thing I can help you with is with what seems to be a sinus infection. That feeling you are having can be caused by tight neck muscles for they can restrict the blood leaving the head and backing blood up into your head. When that happens the first place it goes is to your sinuses and eyes to cause pressures in those areas. To get rid of that pressure you have to free up your neck muscles to release the pressure on the blood vessels and here’s how to free them up:
    Neck Release:
Place your hands behind your head touching your fingers. Press into the back of your neck with them and hold the pressure on them. After 45 seconds slowly lower your head until your neck is fully extended. Release the pressure but hold your head there for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

I don’t think it would hurt to ask if you can get temporary disability.

For your gums, try to get someone to get you some rosemary (you can also
get a plant, grow it in a window…it has few needs…but you need two plants)
but you can buy dried rosemary (a herb often used in lamb dishes). You make
a tea, with say 1 cup boiling water, and steep a tsp. of rosemary for
1/2 hour. Rinse mouth…it kills germs, tastes fine. This might not fix
the problem but it will definitely combat it.

Tell your doctor the problem, and these two choices. Tell him your own
leaning, take on this. Get a note from him, but also talk to resort
and begin to volunteer ANYWAY (pray about this so the Lord leads you),
but volunteer in areas interesting to you, helpful to you.

You can up the Vit. C to 2×500 mg. twice a day according to my
    reading.

God loves you so much and want you to take a rest and deepen your relationship with Him during these time of resting from work. Do not worry about your work, when you put your trust in the Lord, then He will guide and direct your path into His good plan. If some little work which will not disturb your recuperation, and you are able to do it, then yes do it. Holy Spirit will prompt your heart desire on what to do.

    Shalom,
